Author pov:
The sound of her heels echoed through the long marble corridor.
Soft. Measured. Familiar.
Tira Rawat didn't look around as she walked.
She didn't need to.
Every corner of this mansion was already engraved in her mind-the tall ceilings, the crystal chandeliers, the expensive paintings that no one really looked at.
Everything was perfect.
Everything was... empty.
"Good evening, ma'am."
A maid stepped aside, lowering her gaze.
Tira smiled instantly.
"Good evening, Rukmini aunty. Aaj phir se overtime? Aap log mujhe lazy bana ke khud thak jaoge."
Rukmini let out a small laugh, surprised as always. "Aap bhi na, baby ma'am..."
Tira winked lightly and walked ahead.
Same smile.
Same tone.
Same energy.
Like nothing ever touched her.
Another servant greeted her. Then another.
She responded to each one-kind, polite, cheerful.
Because that's what she was good at.
Talking.
Smiling.
Existing just enough... to not to be questioned.
But never enough... to be noticed.
Her steps didn't slow as she reached the main wing.
They never did.
Because there was nowhere she actually wanted to stop.
Except-
Her feet paused.
Just for a second.
In front of a large wooden door.
Her father's office.
Her gaze stayed on the door a little longer than necessary.
Inside, she could hear faint voices.
A meeting.
Of course.
There was always something more important.
Always someone more important.
Her fingers tightened slightly around her phone.
She took a step forward.
Stopped.
Her hand lifted a little... then dropped back to her side.
"Stupid," she muttered under her breath, forcing a small smile.
"Busy honge."
As if that explained everything.
As if it always did.
She stepped back.
And walked away.
---
The Rawat dining hall was massive.
A table meant for at least ten people.
But only one chair was ever used properly.
Tira sat down casually, scrolling through her phone as the staff served dinner.
"Sir nahi aayenge, ma'am," one of them said softly.
She didn't even look up.
"Hmm. Meeting, right?"
"Ji."
"Expected."
She picked up her fork.
Took a bite.
Chewed.
Swallowed.
Then smiled again.
"Waise bhi, unko meri company pasand nahi hai."
The servant froze for a second, unsure how to respond.
Tira laughed lightly.
"Relax. Joke tha."
But it didn't sound like one.
---
Meanwhile...
Miles away.
In a completely different world.
A man stood in front of floor-to-ceiling glass windows, overlooking the city.
Reyansh Singhania.
The city lights reflected in his eyes... but didn't soften them.
Behind him, three men stood stiffly, waiting.
"Sir... deal final ho gayi hai," one of them spoke carefully.
Reyansh didn't turn.
"Terms?"
"Unhone conditions change ki hai-"
"Then walk out."
Simple.
Cold.
Final.
"Sir, profit-"
Reyansh finally turned.
Slowly.
The room went silent instantly.
"Main loss afford kar sakta hoon," he said calmly, stepping forward,
"par disrespect nahi, wo log ne mere conditions change karne ki koshish ki and I can't afford that."
The man swallowed.
"Understood, sir."
Reyansh adjusted his watch, his movements precise.
Controlled.
Everything about him was controlled.
Except one thing.
His patience.
Which ran out very quickly.
"Rudra kahan hai?" he asked.
As if summoned-
"Yahin hoon, bhai!"
Rudra Singhania walked in, completely relaxed, hands in pockets, grin on his face.
"Miss kiya mujhe?"
Reyansh didn't react.
"Late ho."
"Fashionably late," Rudra corrected.
Reyansh gave him a look.
Rudra raised his hands. "Theek hai, theek hai. Batao kya hua."
"Deal cancel."
"Again?" Rudra sighed dramatically. "Bhai, aapko thoda patience seekhna chahiye."
Reyansh's gaze shifted to him.
Sharp.
"Tum seekh lo. Mujhe zaroorat nahi."
Rudra smirked.
"Problem yeh hai ki aapko kisi cheez ki zaroorat nahi lagti."
A pause.
Then he added, a little quieter-
"Logon ki bhi nahi."
Reyansh didn't respond.
Didn't deny.
Didn't accept.
He just looked away.
Because for him-
That wasn't a problem.
That was strength.
---
Back to Tira...
Her room was large.
Beautiful.
Perfectly decorated.
And completely untouched.
She walked in, closing the door behind her quietly.
The smile dropped.
Instantly.
Like it was never there.
Silence filled the room.
Heavy.
Loud.
She walked toward the mirror slowly.
Stopped in front of it.
Looked at herself.
Really looked.
For a few seconds... nothing happened.
Then-
Her eyes softened.
Her lips trembled slightly.
But no tears fell.
They rarely did.
"Drama band kar, Tira," she whispered to herself.
"Tu theek hai."
She took a deep breath.
Forced a smile.
It looked perfect.
Again.
"See? Bilkul normal."
Her phone buzzed.
Kiara.
Tara picked up instantly.
"Haan madam, yaad aa gayi meri?"
"Shut up, tu call kyun nahi uthati?" Kiara's voice came fast, annoyed.
"Busy thi yaar. Ye logon ke problems samajh nahi aayenge tujhe."
"Achha? Kya problem thi? Nail break ho gaya kya?"
Tira laughed.
Loud.
Real sounding.
"Badtameez."
Kiara didn't laugh.
"Tu theek hai?"
The question was simple.
Direct.
Tira's smile faded... just a little.
"Haan."
"Sach bol."
"Arey haan yaar. Drama mat kar."
Silence.
Kiara sighed.
"Kal mil rahi hai na?"
"Obviously."
"Cancel mat karna."
"Main kab cancel karti hoon?"
"Tu har cheez cancel karti hai... apna dard bhi cancel karti hai sabke saamne, you know how to hide emotions."
Tira froze.
Just for a second.
Then she laughed again.
"Philosophy band kar aur so ja."
"Goodnight, Tira."
"Goodnight."
Call cut.
The room went silent again.
Tira stared at her phone.
Then slowly placed it aside.
She walked to her bed.
Sat down.
Her hands rested in her lap.
Still.
Calm.
Controlled.
Just like everything else.
Outside-
The world saw a girl who laughed too much.
Inside-
There was nothing loud.
Nothing dramatic.
Just a quiet emptiness.
That had been there for years.
---
Somewhere else in the city-
Reyansh stood alone now.
The room empty.
The silence comfortable.
He picked up a file.
Looked at the name.
Rawat Group.
His expression didn't change.
But something shifted.
Slightly.
A business move.
That's all it was.
_
At night:
The sound of her heels echoed again.
Only this time-
She didn't walk past the door.
She stopped.
Right in front of it.
Her father's office.
The voices inside were clearer now.
"...deal finalize kar dijiye, Mr. Rawat."
"Kal tak ho jaana chahiye. I don't repeat myself."
That voice.
Cold. Sharp. Familiar.
Tira's fingers curled slightly at her side.
She took a breath.
Then another.
And before she could change her mind-
She knocked.
A pause.
"Come in."
Same tone.
Same indifference.
Tira pushed the door open slowly.
The office was exactly how she remembered.
Dark wood. Minimal decor. Everything neat, controlled... just like him.
Rajveer Rawat sat behind his desk, not even looking up immediately.
Two men sat across from him.
Business partners.
Important people.
Always important people.
Tira stepped inside.
No one acknowledged her.
Not yet.
"Sir, documents-" one of the men started.
"Leave them," Rajveer said, signing something without even glancing properly.
Then-
His eyes finally lifted.
For a second.
Just a second.
They landed on her.
No warmth.
No surprise.
Nothing.
"Tum?" he said flatly.
Not Tira.
Not beta.
Just-
Tum.
Tira smiled.
Like always.
"Haan... main hi."
Awkward silence filled the room.
One of the men shifted uncomfortably.
"Sir, we can continue later-"
"No," Rajveer cut him off. "Finish it."
Then, to Tira-
"Short mein bolo. Busy hoon."
The words didn't hit loudly.
They didn't need to.
They always landed exactly where they were meant to.
Tira stepped forward slightly.
Still smiling.
"Woh... bas poochna tha ki aap dinner pe-"
"Cancel."
Immediate.
No pause.
No thought.
Tira blinked once.
"Okay... par-"
"I said cancel."
This time sharper.
The men sitting there avoided looking at her.
Like she wasn't supposed to exist in that room.
Tira nodded slowly.
"Okay."
A small chuckle escaped her.
"Meetings important hoti hai, I get it."
Rajveer didn't respond.
Didn't care.
Didn't even pretend.
Tira shifted her weight slightly.
Her fingers tightening behind her back.
"Actually... kal college mein event hai," she added, voice still light,
"socha aap aa jaoge toh-"
"No."
Again.
Flat.
Final.
"Par-"
"Maine bola na no."
Now irritation was visible.
Rajveer leaned back in his chair, finally looking at her properly.
Not as a daughter.
As a distraction.
"Mujhe faltu cheezon ke liye time nahi hai."
The words hung in the air.
Heavy.
Cold.
One of the men coughed lightly.
Tira's smile didn't drop.
It never did.
"Of course," she said softly.
"Faltu hi toh hai."
For a second-
Just a second-
Something flickered in Rajveer's expression.
Not guilt.
Just annoyance.
"Drama mat karo, Tira," he said, picking up another file.
"Jo zaroori hota hai, uske liye time nikalta hoon main."
Tira tilted her head slightly.
"Main zaroori nahi hoon?"
The question came out too simple.
Too calm.
That's what made it dangerous.
The room went still.
The two men looked anywhere but at them.
Rajveer didn't answer immediately.
He just looked at her.
Measured.
Unbothered.
Then-
"Tumhe jo samajhna hai samajh lo."
And just like that-
It was over.
Conversation finished.
Matter closed.
Tira nodded slowly.
"Clear hai."
She turned around.
Walked toward the door.
Step.
Step.
Step.
Then stopped.
Without turning back, she said lightly-
"Waise... main try karna band kar doon na?"
Silence.
No response.
She smiled to herself.
"Convenient rahega sabke liye."
And she walked out.
---
The door closed behind her with a soft click.
And just like that-
She disappeared again.
---
Inside the office-
One of the men finally spoke, hesitantly.
"Sir... woh aapki-"
"Personal matters discuss mat karo."
Rajveer didn't even let him finish.
Cold.
Final.
"Deal pe focus karo."
Because for him-
That conversation never happened.
---
Meanwhile... Singhania Mansion.
"Bhaiii!"
Rudra's voice echoed through the house.
Completely opposite energy.
Warm lights. Open space. People moving around comfortably.
Alive.
Reyansh walked in, removing his watch calmly.
"Chilla kyun raha hai?"
"Because aap sunte nahi ho," Rudra grinned, walking backward dramatically.
"Aaj dinner pe baithoge ya phir business ke saath hi waqt bitaoge?"
Reyansh gave him a look.
Rudra ignored it.
"Mom wait kar rahi hai. Dad bhi aa gaye. Dadi already teen baar pooch chuki hai."
As if on cue-
"Reyansh!" Aditi Singhania's voice came from the dining area.
"Late mat karo!"
Rudra smirked.
"Dekha? Aap mujhse important ho yahan."
Reyansh didn't react.
But he walked toward the dining table anyway.
---
The family was already seated.
Vikram Singhania looked up.
"Late."
"Meeting."
"Always."
Short exchange.
But no bitterness.
Aditi placed food on his plate herself.
"Kaam kam kiya karo thoda," she said softly.
"Insaan ho, machine nahi."
Reyansh didn't respond.
But he didn't stop her either.
Dadi chuckled.
"Shaadi kara do iski. Sab theek ho jayega."
Rudra almost choked laughing.
"Dadi, jo ladki inse shaadi karegi na, usko to phir medal milna chahiye."
Reyansh looked at him.
Rudra straightened.
"Respectfully."
A small smile almost appeared on Vikram's face.
Almost.
---
And somewhere-
In a completely different house-
A girl sat on her bed.
Silent.
Still smiling.
Even when no one was watching.
---
Because some habits...
neither leave nor they give peace.
